A consultation will launch today (Monday 4 April) to seek the views of local residents in Cheshire West and Chester.

Consultation feedback will inform how Children’s Centre services are delivered in future and how we buy the right services for our local population.

There are currently 15 children’s centres that operate in groupings across the borough. The authority is committed to the continued delivery of services from all 15 centres and the proposal is to formally group these in line with Department for Education guidance so that they are configured as eight main and seven linked sites within the existing groupings.

In addition to this proposal there are three commissioning options that the Council are asking people to share their views on:

  • To continue to deliver a separate 0-5 years Healthy Child Programme, a separate 5-19 years Health and Wellbeing service and separate Children’s Centre services. Both the 0-5 years and 5-19 years services will be commissioned whilst the Children’s Centres remain within the Local Authority.
  • To deliver an integrated 0-5 years’ service that includes the 0-5 years Healthy Child Programme and Children’s Centre services. The 5-19 years Health and Wellbeing service will continue to be delivered separately.
  • To deliver an integrated 0-19 years’ service that includes the 0-5 years Healthy Child Programme, 5-19 years Health and Wellbeing service and Children’s Centre services that is one service.

Full details of the proposals are available on Cheshire West and Chester Council’s website, search ‘0-19 consultation’.

The consultation is taking place from 4 April until 26 June. There are a number of ways to get involved: A consultation booklet provides in-depth information about the proposals. An easy read version of the booklet is also available and there are questionnaires for people to share their views.

All information is included on the Council website or alternatively a copy of the booklets and questionnaires can be requested on:

In addition views can be shared via the above contact details.
