Consultation on Early Intervention & Prevention Services in Cheshire West and Chester

In line with the Councils ambitions detailed in the Councils Corporate Plan,  future commissioning intentions will have a focus on reducing demand on health and social care provision while ensuring that residents are able to stay as independent and as well as possible for as long as possible. Cheshire West and Chester Council is committed to ensuring that all services the Council commissions are targeted to meet our service users’ needs and are aligned to the Council’s corporate plan for 2016 – 2020.

This Consultation sets out Early Intervention and Prevention commissioning which places particular emphasis on the development of ‘low level’ arrangements to support prevention. This reflects the fact that, while there has been some significant development of earlier and lower level interventions, there has been more investment and greater focus in recent years on developing higher level, more focused and intensive interventions.

The proposed new approach is based on a three tier model where they are looking to have an overall lead organisation for each of the 3 tiers to ensure greater coordination and closer working between services including the development of integrated referral routes.

The aims of the consultation  are to provide local people the opportunity to

  • Comment on the types of services the Council is proposing to commission
  • Influence the way Early intervention & prevention services are delivered in the future.
  • Identify any gaps in identified service provision.
  • Make suggestions to help improve services
  • Provide the opportunities for those with an interest to offer their opinions on proposals to service changes

The Council are keen to hear your views to help to ensure that over £1m of the £3.2 million available is spent on services that meet the needs of local service users and their Carers. Over £1 million of this budget has been made possible through the Council using its powers to raise an additional precept on council tax bills of 2% to enable additional investment to be directed towards supporting vulnerable adults.
