Last night I went out of my comfort zone to appear “live” on community radio. Fortunately I was amongst friends and in a familiar place. Hawthorn House in Lache is home to Flipside community radio station and is where I used to work as a community development worker several years ago. My host for the evening was Mr Parsley, one half of the Flipside Weekly show which runs every Wednesday night from 7pm to 9pm covering local news and events. His co-host Rama was at a Chester Pride meeting and joined us later.
Mr Parsley is one of a number of volunteer presenters for Flipside which is a service provided by Lache Community Development Trust. The Flipside Weekly is a great opportunity for community groups and local charities to share their news and gain invaluable publicity and promotion at the same time. They also play fab music! Every guest is introduced with a specially chosen song, mine was Wonderful Life by Black. Now there’s a blast from the past!
My reason for being on the show last night was to promote our Head, Heart and Hands interactive wellbeing event at Grosvenor Park on Wednesday 19 July from 11am to 3pm.
The show is available to listen to below:
