What is SkillShare?

“SkillShare brings together the passion and expertise of the voluntary and community sector with the skills and experience of local businesses to help create more successful and sustainable organisations.”

 

The SkillShare initiative promotes local, skilled volunteering. It matches local business people and other professionals, who are willing to volunteer their skills, with suitable charities and community groups that require their services.

Chester Voluntary Action (CVA) manage SkillShare and act as an independent broker between the two parties. SkillShare is a collaborative initiative between several private, public and civil society organisations. CVA has established links with local businesses and public sector organisations and works in partnership to support the voluntary and community sector. We have a membership of over 400 voluntary and community organisations and hold information on their specific requirements, enabling us to suggest appropriate matches.

How it works

Once you have contacted us we will ask you for some details regarding your organisation’s interest in the programme. This will involve CVA understanding more about the skills you have or need. It will also cover the time commitment you are able to give if you represent a business, or need if you represent a charity.

CVA will broker an initial meeting between the business and charity, where ultimately an agreement on the level of work can be reached. CVA will stay in touch throughout the process in order to collect feedback and evaluate the benefits of the collaboration.
