New Leaf brings together partners from across Warrington and Cheshire to change lives, create opportunities and make a positive contribution to local communities and the regional economy.

New Leaf programme will be looking to support over 2,800 people from across Cheshire, enabling them to move closer to employment over three year until September 2019. The project has been allocated £10.6 million of funding through the Building Better Opportunities programme and is funded by the European Social Fund and the National Lottery, through the Big Lottery Fund, which provides investment in local projects that increase economic development by investing in projects which will support skills development, employment and job creation, social inclusion and local community regeneration.

Chester Voluntary Action is one of the many partners involvement in the New Leaf project, and we support people from across Cheshire West

This project aims to support individuals and families with multiple and complex needs to move closer to, and into, the labour market. The project will focus on those who are furthest from the labour market, helping them move towards and into employment. Employment will be one measure, but so too will be the confidence of participants to progress onto other training, education or volunteering opportunities.

The project will:

  • provide the means through which disadvantaged people become work-ready, and are able to
    access learning, training and job opportunities;
  • engage and support disadvantaged people to enable them to overcome barriers to employment;
  • be responsive to the different needs of individuals and communities;
  • provide consistent levels of support across urban and rural areas.
