Group Support

Cheshire West Voluntary Action was established in 1914 and exists to support charities and community organisations across the Cheshire West borough.  We can help you at all stages of development whether large or small, new or established.

We provide a range of capacity building advice, support, training, and specialist services to support our growing membership to become stronger, more effective, efficient, and sustainable.  This ties in with our values, enabling your charity or community group to be better able to successfully deliver vital quality front-line services meeting the diverse needs of the local community.

Charity Support and Development Services

Governance and Management

We offer a range of support to strengthen governance arrangements and develop charity trustee boards:

• Facilitating trustee ‘Away Days’
• Appropriate legal structures and governing documents
• Compliance
• Strategic or business planning
• Review management and staffing structures and development
• Advice on implement performance improvement and quality frameworks
• Financial management policies, procedures and systems

Funding and Enterprise

Advice and information is provided to help groups become better at fundraising, tendering for contracts, identifying new income streams, and becoming more enterprising and sustainable. This includes:
• 1:1 funding advice and support sessions;
• customised funding searches;
• Regular funding briefings on new sources of funding and tender opportunities via our e-bulletin;
• Read through service.

Networks and policy

We are active in a wide range of partnerships and policy work locally.  We also facilitate forums for organisations providing opportunities for collaborative and effective working relationships:

Training and workshops

We deliver a wide range workshops and training to enable help organisations develop and build the capacity of their staff, volunteers and service users. Recent workshops have included Volunteer Management; Good Governance; GDPR and Charity Law updates.
