The Cheshire and Merseyside No More – Zero Suicide Strategy aims to transform the culture and attitudes towards suicide. The reduction in the number of suicides in our community is a key priority for Cheshire West and Chester Council.
CVA is a a member of the local, multi-agency Suicide Prevention Group and together we have produced a borough-wide Suicide Reduction Action Plan which is working towards Suicide Safer Community status.
An integral part of this is to get as many people as possible trained in Suicide Prevention; the Zero Suicide Alliance have a free online course which is accessible to all and only take 20 minutes to complete. The aims of this training are to; enable people to identify when someone is presenting with suicidal thoughts/ behaviour, to be able to speak out in a supportive manner, and to empower them to signpost the individual to the correct services or support.
